A few days ago I bought my first iPhone application. While it was only $0.99, I was concerned that it would be the start of a downward purchasing spiral. My worry was well founded – today I made my second purchase, an IM software called BeejiveIM. The price was $9.99, down from $15.99, part of [...]

Where is the push?
Apple should really deliver on their promise of a push notification service on the iPhone. The notification service was originally promised on September, and we are already in November. The reason I am bringing this up now is that I just realized I had missed a few Twinkle/Twitted replies from a few days ago, which [...]

Sneaky Apple and Google
According to reports (here is one), Apple is sneakily installing MobileMe software when users set up iTunes 7.7. I came home tonight and double checked my desktop, and true enough, the dreaded MobileMe setting is in my Control Panel. No where during my iTunes 7.7 installation was I prompted about MobileMe.
Just yesterday I [...]

Upgraded iPhone to firmware v2.0
After a whole day at work thinking about upgrading my iPhone’s firmware, I finally came home and actually went through with the upgrade.
The download happened in the morning, as I blogged earlier. The firmware upgrade took about 15 minutes. The data restore and phone re-activation took another 2 minutes. I am still [...]

Almost bricked my iPhone
This morning my carpool buddy told me he would be 15 minutes late, so I thought, why not use this time to update my iPhone firmware to 2.0?! I thought it would only take 10 or so minutes.
I started my desktop computer, fired up iTunes (which I upgraded to 7.7 last night, with 2 [...]

Bye bye MacBook
A few weeks ago the battery of my wife’s MacBook died. I could buy a new battery and continue my Mac journey, but I decided to put it up for sale on Craigslist. That was this morning at 1am.
The MacBook is now gone, and I don’t foresee another Mac in my home for [...]

MacDongle
Yet another Apple-hostile blog post: Why Doesn’t Anyone Give a Crap About Freedom Zero?. Can’t say I disagree.
I like this one’s comparison of Macs to hardware dongles. I like the article even more (and Apple less) when I think of the tight controls Apple is going to place over iPhone applications.

Free iPhones for someone else but me
Company M released a product for Mac. Apple then gave an iPhone to everyone on the team that produced the product. Free.
As in no charge.
2-year AT&T contract not included, of course.
(On a side note, I finally played with the Sprint Touch today. It’s very cute, much smaller than I expected.)

Mad TV’s iPod Nano Feist 1234 parody
Not exactly live blogging, but I just watched last Saturday’s Mad TV episode that I DVRed. It opened with a parody of Apple’s iPod Nano Feist 1234 commercial. The parody lyrics resonated with my current anti-Apple emotions, especially the part about the iPhone price drop.

The untold iPhone story
While I am not nearly a fan of Apple as I was 10 years ago, I do admire the company for building the iPhone and changing the cellphone scene. That’s why I actually read through Wired Magazine’s article The Untold Story: How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry in its entirety, word after [...]
