2008 Olympics badminton men’s final videos

I was never able to view the 2008 Olympics Badminton men’s final match online because NBC never hosted that particular video. Thanks to Internet and YouTube, now I can:

I am just as skinny as Lee Chong Wei, why can’t I play badminton like him? :P

I am a Fujianese just like Lin Dan, why can’t I play badminton like him? :P

And since I am a skinny Fujianese, shouldn’t I play twice as well as either Lin Dan or Lee Chong Wei? Or as good as Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei combined? :D

Star Trek trailer

While I have been a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, I was never that into Star Trek: The Original Series.  In the original series, the word ‘adventure’ in the phrase ‘space adventure’ needs to be in quotes because things looked too easy – whatever the problem, just send in Captain James T. Kirk.

As such I was not that keen in the Star Trek movie coming out this year, a movie that is based on characters from the original series.  I had seen some trailers online but mostly with speakers muted.  Boy what a difference a good sound track can make.  I am now actually interested in the movie after watching this latest trailer with audio:

The space battle looks amazing.

Elena Satine’s rendition of “Free Fallin”

I came across a nice music segment while watching “Cold Case: Triple Threat“. In this segment Elena Satine performed her rendition of “Free Fallin“, and in the middle she switched to lyrics from an opera chorus “Va pensiero“. While Elena’s normal performance of “Free Fallin” was excellent, it’s her “Va pensiero” performance that truly impressed me.

The “Va pensiero” portion starts at 52 seconds into the YouTube video below:

Some favorite segments on So You Think You Can Dance season 4

These past few weeks my wife and I are following season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance. (By the way, our favorite choreographer is Mandy Moore.) Overall I like last season’s performances more, but there was a few good ones this year as well:

So You Think You Can Dance 2008

So You Think You Can Dance is back! The producers really saved the best for last in tonight’s season premiere. Get a load of this:

Be sure to watch all the way till the end, including the special move Robert Muraine (the performer in the video) did for Nigel Lythgoe. This move got him straight to Vegas.

PS, I thought Rober Muraine looked like the ‘turtle teacher’ (龟公) in Dragonball (七龙珠) when he was swirling his neck/head. :)

Mad TV’s iPod Nano Feist 1234 parody

Not exactly live blogging, but I just watched last Saturday’s Mad TV episode that I DVRed. It opened with a parody of Apple’s iPod Nano Feist 1234 commercial. The parody lyrics resonated with my current anti-Apple emotions, especially the part about the iPhone price drop.

Recession for movie extras

This does not bode well for the movie extra industry:
