Silver LX3 has landed

When I first read about Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 camera, it was priced at around $400. I was interested but balked at such a high price for a compact camera, only to see the price rise to $500 even at decent outfits such as Amazon and B&H Photo Video. In fact, the LX3 sold so well that [...]

iPhone push notifications for Gmail

Google Mail (Gmail) is my primary email, but emails in my Gmail account are not pushed to my iPhone. Since I can’t (or don’t want to) switch to Palm Pre and Android, I will have to make do with some workarounds.

Palm Pre impressions

I played with a Palm Pre today in a Sprint store. It was actually my second trip to the store this weekend – the first time I simply drove past after seeing the 10+ people lining near the door. Anyhoo, here are my initial thoughts:

The Pre is small compared to iPhone.
The screen was [...]

Ravage thumb drive

Thumb drives are usually a dime a dozen and boring, but this unfortunately-expensive Ravage transformable USB thumb drive certainly piqued my interest.

One of the attractive iPhone features was [...]

Nokia 5800 initial sync annoyance

We purchased an unlocked Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone earlier this week.  For $200 it was a great deal.  The phone arrived yesterday.
Nokia 5800 is Nokia’s first phone with touch screen. As such the touch UI is still crude. One thing that ticked me off was the useless manual which said nothing on syncing [...]

One GSM Palm Pre wanted

Palm Pre was announced on Thursday in CES. I was busy the past two days, so I only got to read more on it last night and today. And after viewing Palm’s official CES presentation, I am really anticipating the release date.
While I like my iPhone, I am really annoyed by Apple’s thinking [...]

Meizu reviewed

When iPhone v1.0 was first announced by Apple two years ago, Meizu also appeared on the Interweb as a blaring iPhone copycat.  Six months into iPhone 3G and after countless disappointments, Meizu is finally a reality…in China.  A review (Chinese, English translation) is up, I wonder how much a unlocked version will cost.

Hoping for that ideal external iPhone 3G battery

The simple fact of the matter is that I need an external battery for my iPhone in order to keep up with a whole day of window shopping with my wife. When she shops, I surf, and the iPhone’s built-in battery simply isn’t built for such gruesome task.
There are a few external batteries [...]
